Starting in 2021, the manufacturer began including a size M hip belt as standard equipment with the Mariposa and Gorilla backpacks. However, if you need a different size, you’ll have to purchase it separately. Of course, for shorter trips, you can carry the backpack without the hip belt, but in that case, you must remove the aluminum back panel from the backpack to prevent damage.

This type of hip belt is only compatible with Gossamer Gear backpacks manufactured before 2024. It is not compatible with the Mariposa V2 and Gorilla V2 versions.

The new hip belts also feature a redesigned 3D mesh. Otherwise, they are structurally identical to previous versions and are therefore also suitable for older models of the Mariposa and Gorilla backpacks.

The hip belt has great, large pockets that comfortably fit a phone, a small compact camera, a snack bar, etc. The size of the pockets corresponds to each size of the hip belt. When attaching the hip belt to the backpack, you must first insert both ends of the aluminum support into the channel on the hip belt.  Warning! Correct insertion is very important; otherwise, you will definitely damage the backpack!
