Rab Phantom Pull-On from the Rab Skyline collection is designed primarily for female runners. It’s perfect for longer runs or as mandatory gear for ultra races in the mountains. However, it also works very well for regular hiking on shorter trips when you don’t want to lug around your heavy waterproof jacket but need peace of mind in your pocket in case of a downpour.

When paired with a very lightweight backpack, the jacket can even be used on multi-day treks. The jacket is made from 7D stretch Pertex Shield 2.5L fabric, which is currently the lightest material used in the outdoor market. Thanks to the stretch, the packed volume has been minimized, and it doesn’t restrict movement during active use. Plus, it packs down incredibly well. Given the lightweight fabric used, it’s clear that the jacket isn’t suitable for longer treks or multi-day backpacking. However, it will easily handle a day trip with a light backpack.

The Pertex fabric used offers full protection against inclement weather and features a 20,000 mm water column and a vapor permeability of 20,000 g/m²/24 h. Since the jacket is designed for the lowest possible weight, it naturally lacks pockets and has a half-zip, which is, however, sufficient for ventilation. The hood fits very well, has an elastic hem, and also features a handy visor. The sleeve cuffs are nicely extended and elastic. The lower sides of the jacket are also elastic and fit snugly against the body without restricting movement. The entire jacket can be packed into the included pouch and clipped anywhere using the loop.

Our ambassador Romča Vavříková put the jacket through its paces during her journey along the Czech border. Even though Romča faced very harsh conditions, this wasn’t a major issue for the Phantom. It even withstood 5 days of continuous rain. When launching the product, we were most concerned about its mechanical durability, but the Phantom surprised us greatly in this regard as well, and the jacket easily handled the 56-day journey!
