We were really looking forward to this new release. From the moment we first held the Roclite Recycled in our hands, it really caught our attention. This shoe isn’t exactly a typical running shoe, but it’s well-suited for general hiking. So it will be a very interesting choice for “our” long-distance treks. But thanks to its understated look and comfort, it will also find its place for everyday wear in the city.

Sustainability

Sustainability has been a major topic in recent years, and the British brand Inov-8 is no exception. We are particularly pleased that, in the case of Inov-8, this isn’t just marketing “fluff,” but substantiated, hard data proving that this production method truly makes sense. The upper knit and collar are made from discarded plastic bottles. The mesh in particular has undergone many changes in this model and feels very comfortable and breathable. The insole has also undergone a recycling process and is made from used EVA foam, providing excellent flexibility and a high level of rebound. The most significant innovation is the use of the BLOOM® midsole, whose basic building block is algae that pollutes the environment and degrades drinking water sources. By collecting it, we contribute to cleaning up the environment, while also obtaining a material with top-notch cushioning properties.

Another major advantage is that no chemicals are used in production, unlike with classic EVA foam. Thanks to its aggressive tread pattern and tall lugs, the Roclite is primarily at home on soft terrain, but its density and large contact area also make it great on hard surfaces or roads, making it an excellent all-around shoe. Compared to the "classic" Roclite G275 model, it feels more like a comfortable "slipper," mainly due to its different upper, which is especially useful on long treks. This shoe has an 8 mm drop, and the cushioning layer in the forefoot is the same height, allowing you to read the terrain perfectly. The midsole is also reinforced with a meta-plate, which protects the foot from sharp rocks and generally hard landings on technical terrain.

Choosing the Right Size

When choosing running shoes, we recommend selecting a size at least one size larger than your usual shoe size. This will help you avoid blisters, pressure points, and other discomforts. If you’re looking for shoes primarily for long-distance treks, a larger size is an absolute must—we often recommend choosing shoes up to a size and a half larger. Prolonged exertion on challenging terrain puts significant strain on your feet, causing them to swell quickly. What feels comfortable during a short training session or a weekend hike is often insufficient for a multi-day trek.

When choosing a larger size, however, it is absolutely essential that your heel stays secure in the shoe. If your heel “slides around,” tightening the laces usually won’t solve the problem—in that case, we recommend choosing a different type or model of shoe. A properly fitting shoe is the foundation of comfort and the prevention of pressure points and blisters.
