For 2025, Rab has decided to revamp our most popular model of hiking pants. Although the Rab Torque is designed as climbing pants, they have found their place in a wide range of outdoor activities. From trails and hiking, through ski mountaineering, cross-country skiing, all the way to bikepacking. 

Rab Torque 2.0

The new Torque has a looser fit. Fit: Slim has been replaced by the looser Regular. Other changes are purely cosmetic.

The Rab Torque pants are essentially the equivalent of the equally popular "softshell" Borealis, but for your legs—the Matrix SWS™ material is windproof yet breathable and feels as comfortable against the skin as "sweatpants." It is a blend of polyamide with a higher percentage of elastane (85% polyamide, 15% elastane).

And just like with our best-selling softshell jacket, we’ll say it again—but you’ll really get the most out of these pants for absolutely everything :-)

The ultimate all-rounders

The knee and ankle areas, reinforced with the stronger Matrix DWS™ material, provide the necessary durability where it’s needed. The elastic hem and zipper allow you to wear the pants either loose or snug around your legs/boots. The three zippered pockets are a delight for us chronic pocket-carriers and map-carriers.

These pants are incredibly durable and hard to beat, which is why I packed them (one of the first models) for a nearly 5,000 km trek along the mountain spine of the American continent—CDT.

According to the manufacturer, these are climbing pants, but they work great for trekking, ski mountaineering, cross-country skiing, and even cycling—I think the guys from Bikepacking.cz.
