The ultra-light Polycryo protective mat serves as a footprint—you can use it as a replacement for a tent floor, or place it under a tent, sleeping pad, or tarp to protect against rocks, branches, moisture, and the like.

While it isn’t as durable as classic Tyvek, it still provides sufficient protection for a sleeping pad and weighs practically nothing. It’s a great alternative for true weight-watchers. Once laid out, don’t forget to weigh down the footprint, because even the slightest breeze can blow it away.

Gossamer Gear has updated the material to a more eco-conscious option: PolyEarthylene®. This USA-made biobased polyolefin can be recycled in existing curbside systems or completely biodegrades in an active landfill environment. Major grocery stores offer specialty bins that guarantee proper plastics recycling when your local curbside system may vary.

As with most ultralight materials, PolyEarthylene® performs best with reasonable care, offering a durable and lightweight waterproofness from campsite to campsite.
