The Rab Evolute Hoody is a well-designed combination of the highly breathable Motiv™ Aero outer fabric and the revolutionary PrimaLoft® Evolve insulation (75 g/m²). Rumors have been circulating in outdoor circles for some time that this insulation was developed as a direct counter to Polartec Alpha. That is, insulation that we also consider to be the absolute top-of-the-line active (or "start-stop") insulation on the market. After all, we chose it for our own Nalehko Alpha products. Visually, it is a very similar material, and to the touch, it is just as extremely comfortable "fleece" that can be worn directly against the skin.  

PrimaLoft® Evolve

It is intended for the same use as the aforementioned Alpha—active movement in colder conditions. Ski mountaineering, winter climbing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, winter hiking, or backcountry adventures. It wicks away moisture brilliantly and keeps us dry during activity while retaining heat when we stop. Surprisingly, we see the ideal use case as being the same as for Alpha products. Best to put it on at base camp/a cabin/the parking lot, then keep it on for the entire activity and just layer as needed. The insulation covers the entire jacket, including the sleeves and hood.   

Motiv™ Aero

This is a Rab-proven, extremely absorbent material that you may recognize, for example, from running collection Skyline as well as many other Rab products. In the Rab Evolute Hoody, it is used as the outer layer, where it wicks away moisture from the aforementioned Primaloft insulation. In terms of windproofing, it certainly won’t achieve the same levels as, for example, our Alpha Aspiring with Pertex on the outside, but in terms of breathability, it will perform slightly better. The lining is made from a combination of fabrics optimized for warmth and moisture wicking (58% polyester (recycled), 42% polyester).   

Rab Evolute Hoody

The hoodie is a full-zip design with a central YYK zipper featuring a chin guard. The two mesh hand pockets also have YKK zippers. The hood is superbly cut, form-fitting, and designed for use under a helmet. All hems are elastic—sleeves, hood, bottom hem of the hoodie—and all seams are flat. In addition to the aforementioned use, the hoodie also serves as a classic static insulated jacket/hoodie during warmer months.
