They are made of durable three-layer plastic that does not affect the taste of the water. When filled, they take on the shape of a bottle with a flat bottom, allowing them to stand on their own. They are tapered in the middle so they fit well in the side pockets of backpacks and can be secured there easily. The cord attached to the cap is used to secure the rolled-up empty bottle so it doesn’t keep unrolling in the backpack. The cap has a distinct knurled pattern, so you can easily unscrew it even with frozen hands. The larger-capacity Water Carry (2 liters) also works great as a pillow—just leave it half-full and wrap it in a T-shirt, for example. This also ensures that your water won’t freeze overnight in the winter. If you don’t fill the bottle more than 80% full, it can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C without damage. It’s a good idea to lightly trim the edges before use—rounding off any sharp corners. Unlike, for example, Sawyer or Platypus bottles, Evernew bottles offer a much longer lifespan, so we definitely recommend them for use with Sawyer filters as well.
