We searched for a long time for the perfect windscreen to use with alcohol stoves until we came to the conclusion that we would have to develop our own.

After months of trial and error, we finally succeeded!

The windscreen is made from 0.1 mm thick titanium sheet metal. Production was handled by our friend Thore Ammerlaan, with whom we collaborated throughout the entire development process, giving rise to the Vesuv Outdoor brand.

In short, it is a simple yet perfect cooking system that provides excellent wind protection, heat transfer, and stability.

It wasn’t easy to find the right dimensions and quality of sheet metal and then fine-tune the appropriate number and shape of holes, the correct height, and a whole host of other technical details. Fortunately, our team includes several former engineers and technologists :-).

The windscreen’s dimensions are designed so that the Toaks 900 ml pot with a diameter of 130 mm fits perfectly inside and rests against the pot’s base. Simply place a liquid or solid alcohol stove under the pot—ideally the Evernew stove, but it also works with other liquid alcohol stoves (Toaks, Esbit, and others). Then all you have to do is light it, let it burn for a moment, and place the pot inside the windscreen. After that, you don’t have to worry about a thing. The windscreen handles strong winds without the slightest problem, and its efficiency is truly high.

The windscreen comes with a Velcro strap so it can be easily rolled up and secured; when packed this way, it fits inside the pot.

We have also recently added the Vesuv Hotspot alcohol stove to our lineup, which, together with the Vesuv windscreen, forms an incredibly efficient cooking system.

Here are some cooking test results as an example:

When used with the more powerful Evernew stove, we boiled 300 ml of water in 3:40 min.

When used with the Toaks Siphon stove, the water came to a boil in 4:30 min.

Based on your feedback, we have now implemented a new system for securing the windscreen on all models using simple tabs and grooves, so the windscreen stays securely in place.
