The Japanese company Evernew Inc. has been manufacturing its titanium cookware for over 20 years. Titanium is a top-quality material with irreplaceable properties for outdoor gear. The titanium alloys used are lightweight (with a specific gravity nearly half that of steel), stronger than stainless steel, and highly chemically stable and corrosion-resistant.

In addition to the unrivaled Ti-Ultralight series for true fans of ultralight gear, Evernew offers the Non-Stick cookware series with a Si-based ceramic non-stick coating for greater cooking comfort. It contains no harmful substances like Teflon coatings, remains stable even at much higher temperatures, and—most importantly—won’t scratch during normal use! You can use an anodized aluminum spoon while cooking and eating, and thanks to the non-stick surface, you can easily wash the cookware after a meal or simply wipe it dry if you’re camping without access to water. It saves time and water; you don’t need a sponge or any chemicals. However, to ensure the longest possible lifespan of the non-stick coating, we recommend using a plastic or wooden spoon.

Our experience

Personally, I’ve been using the Non-Stick 1.3 pot for 10 years now. It has been used for over 700 cookings, shows no signs of warping—the lid fits smoothly on its own, the bottom is flat, and it remains non-stick. In any case, no coating is indestructible, so the better you treat it, the longer it will last and retain its functionality. On our Pacific Crest Trail (4,200 km), we declared this pot, along with the Criterion Quantum 350 sleeping bag, the best pieces of our gear. A potential drawback for some is that, due to titanium’s lower thermal conductivity, it’s not advisable to cook on gas stoves with a narrow flame spread at full power—this can cause the pot’s bottom to warp. I cook on a an alcohol stove and occasionally on an Optimus gas stove (I’ve also cooked over a campfire a few times), and the bottom is still perfectly flat. It’s simply a matter of approach.

Important!

• Do not overheat the product, otherwise the food will burn through the thin metal wall. Titanium cookware is designed to cook efficiently at low heat settings.
• Never heat an empty pot! This would cause discoloration, deterioration, and peeling of the functional non-stick coating. Avoid heating dry foods or melting snow without adding water—this will cause the same damage as heating an empty pot.
• When frying, first add fat and food to the pan, and only then place the pan on the heat source.
