Bonfus is a young Italian family brand founded in 2019 by passionate adventurers Niccolò and Stefania Bonfadini. Revolutionary Materials

The most significant difference from commonly available materials is the use of ULTRA 200 X™.& nbsp;This material combines 66% ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with 34% recycled polyester, giving it exceptional properties.

UHMWPE fibers are the lightest and strongest commercially available fibers – their tensile strength is 15 times higher than that of steel. They are manufactured using a special gel spinning method that creates extremely long molecular chains, perfectly aligned along the material’s backbone. This arrangement effectively transfers the load to the fiber and ensures high elasticity and strength.

Compared to DCF2.92 (Dyneema®), ULTRA 200 X™ offers three times higher tear resistance, seven times higher abrasion resistance, and contains three times more UHMWPE fibers. Lamination with recycled polyester film gives it a water column of 20,000 mm, ensuring excellent water resistance. Additionally, the material is reinforced with Ultra CrossPly technology for better dimensional stability and long-lasting durability.

Minimalism in a practical design

The Framus 58 combines several exceptional features that are not at all common in a backpack weighing just 765 grams. Thanks to this, it has become one of the bestsellers of the young Italian brand Bonfus.

We’ve already mentioned the super-durable material above. However, the Framus differs from its smaller sibling, the Iterus 38, in a key design element: it features two pre-shaped aluminum rods in the back. These significantly increase carrying comfort and effectively transfer the weight to the hips. The result is a load capacity of up to an incredible 18 kg—which is absolutely exceptional for a backpack of such low weight. The rods are also easy to remove, so if you want to use the Framus for a shorter trip, you can lighten it even further. In addition to these rods, the backpack has a foam pad in the back, which further increases carrying comfort and can be easily removed.

Just like the Iterus, the Framus is essentially one large water-resistant “bag” with a roll-top closure that can hold everything you need for a long trek. The roll-top collar is extremely long, so the backpack can easily accommodate bulky gear, such as a bear canister. Thanks to the water-resistant material and taped seams, it offers high protection against moisture. However, this is not a 100% waterproof system, so we recommend using an internal pack liner. A long compression strap sewn onto the top is used to secure additional gear.

Padded hip belt

Unlike the Iterus, the Framus is equipped with a standard padded hip belt, which significantly improves comfort and stability during extended wear. The hip belt itself has no pockets, but it is equipped with loops to which you can easily attach the Hip Belt Pocket, which we offer as an optional accessory.

The backpack is available in three different back lengths, so there’s something for everyone—regardless of height or build.

Comfortable shoulder straps and other details

The shoulder straps are comfortably padded and ensure even weight distribution. Each strap features loops for attaching a Shoulder Pouch or other accessories. A height-adjustable chest strap is a given.

A great bonus are the balance straps, which allow you to pull the backpack closer to your center of gravity, thereby increasing stability when walking on technical terrain or carrying a heavier load.

Practical pockets for quick access

The side pockets are made of durable UltraGrid™ material and feature an elastic hem that keeps contents securely in place. They easily hold water bottles or other gear. The backpack can be compressed using simple side straps.

The front of the backpack also features a large mesh pocket—one of the most popular features of ultralight backpacks. Ideal for gear you need quick access to: waterproof clothing, a water filter, or food for the whole day.
