The Sunday Afternoon Ultra Storm Bucket rounds out our selection of waterproof hats from this iconic American brand. Compared to the Ultra Adventure Storm Hat, this model is lighter thanks to the removal of the back panel, making it more suitable for rainy regions than desert areas.
Tried-and-true material
The Ultra Storm Bucket is made from 100% recycled polyester with a water column rating of 10,000 mm. This makes it perfect for rainy days if you’re not a fan of hoods or ponchos. It’s also a great fit for us glasses-wearers who can’t stand contact lenses and raindrops on our faces. At the same time, it provides exceptional sun protection UPF 50+ when the landscape is bathed in sunlight.
The material is extremely packable/compressible into a pocket or backpack, and its waterproofness is further enhanced by a durable, PFAS-free DWR water-repellent finish.

Reflective elements help ensure passive safety during adventures. The hat comes in two sizes and is highly adjustable—including the chin strap—so it fits virtually any head. The brim is an ideal 7 cm. The lining and sweatband are made from 100% recycled mesh certified by Bluesign®.
We tested the Sunday Afternoon hats to our full satisfaction on long-distance trails around the world, and we can confidently recommend them.
They come in two sizes. Size M is for head circumferences from 56 to 58 cm. Size L is for head circumferences from 58 to 60.5 cm.
Hand wash in cold water, do not bleach, line dry, do not iron, do not dry clean.
