It is a few grams lighter, but more importantly, 12 mm taller than the original Trivet —this increases the space between the stove and the bottom of the pot while cooking, resulting in better combustion. The stove thus burns more efficiently even at high altitudes (above 3,000 m a.s.l.)

Thanks to the increased space under the Trivet, solid alcohol or Esbit tablets can also be used as fuel (though I’m not a big fan of this, because solid alcohol leaves the entire trivet and pot sooty and sticky. In contrast, when using pure bio-alcohol, the pot remains absolutely clean). Simply light an Esbit tablet, place the Trivet 2 on top of it, and then set the pot on top of that.
