Rab Ascendor Hoody
The new Rab Ascendor series of technical mid-layers features a sophisticated combination of materials for the best balance of thermal insulation and breathability during all kinds of activities, not just mountaineering. The Ascendor Hoody strikes a balance between weight and warmth within this series. Since 2020, Rab has set a goal since 2020 to gradually develop sustainability and minimize our footprint as much as possible. However, this isn’t just some superficial “marketing” ploy; Rab takes great care to evaluate recycling methods to ensure it all makes sense. So, naturally, Rab’s new mid-layers also feature recycled materials.
Thermic™ G
The sweatshirt features two different weights of fabric, placed according to the expected physical exertion. The heavier and warmer (235 g/m²) fabric with a mesh structure is placed in areas that need to be kept warm—the torso, hips, shoulders, lower back, and upper arms. The lighter version (160 g/m²) with a micro-mesh structure, on the other hand, is placed in areas where we sweat more and need to promote moisture wicking—the forearms, upper back, and lower upper arms. The hood features a warmer material on the sides and a lighter, more breathable fabric across the center of the hood (for a better understanding of the material mapping, please watch the video). Thanks to the internal structure of the Thermic™ G material, the sweatshirt wicks moisture away effectively and keeps us warm and dry even during more demanding activities.
Accessories
The hoodie features a close-fitting hood with an elastic hem and is designed to be worn under a helmet if necessary. The central YKK zipper is finished with a fleece chin guard. The left chest pocket is also equipped with a YKK zipper. The bottom hem of the Rab Ascendor Hoody features an elastic hem, as do the sleeves, which are additionally equipped with thumb loops.
Usage
With its specifications, the Rab Ascendor Hoody is an ideal mid-layer for cooler temperatures during high-intensity activities (running, cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, cycling…). In spring and summer temperatures, it also easily serves as an outer layer for any activity in the mountains and outdoors in general. Thanks to its flat, low-profile seams, the hoodie can also be worn directly against the skin as a base layer. At Nalehko, we also offer an ultralight version: Rab Ascendor Light Hoody, the hoodless Rab Ascendor Light Pull-On, or the ultimate Rab Ascendor Summit Hoody.
If you're unsure about which fleece to choose, we've prepared a NALEHKO guide for you.
