We searched for a long time for the perfect windscreen to use with alcohol stoves until we came to the conclusion that we would have to develop our own.

After months of trial and error, we finally succeeded!

The windscreen is made of 0.1 mm thick titanium sheet metal. Production was handled by our friend Thore Ammerlaan, with whom we collaborated throughout the entire development process, giving rise to the Vesuv Outdoor brand.

In short, it is a simple yet perfect cooking system that provides excellent wind protection, heat transfer, and stability.

It wasn’t easy to find the right dimensions and quality of sheet metal and then fine-tune the appropriate number and shape of holes, the correct height, and a whole host of other technical details. Fortunately, our team includes several former engineers and technologists :-).

The dimensions of the windscreen are designed so that the Evernew 1.3 L pot fits perfectly inside it (Ultralight and Non Stick) and rest against the pot’s base. All you need to do is place a liquid or solid alcohol stove under the pot—ideally the Evernew stove that we’ve tested. Then all you have to do is light it, let it burn for a moment, and place the pot inside the windscreen. After that, you don’t have to worry about a thing. The windscreen handles strong winds without the slightest problem, and its effectiveness is truly perfect.

The windscreen now comes with Velcro so it can be easily rolled up, pulled tight, and placed across the pot. This way, it can even fit an alcohol stove and a small bottle of alcohol inside.

We have also recently added the Vesuv Hotspot alcohol stove to our lineup, which, together with the Vesuv windscreen, forms an incredibly efficient cooking system.

As an example, here are the results of a cooking test conducted in relatively cold conditions; additionally, no lid was used for cooking:

Air temperature 5 ℃ | Water temperature 3 ℃ | Boiling time 5:10 min. | Burning time 9:30 min. | Water volume 300 ml | Alcohol volume 30 ml | Heating time 1:10 min.

Based on your feedback, we have now implemented a new fastening system for all wind screens using simple tabs and grooves, so the wind screen stays securely in place.
