Kula Cloth

The Kula cloth consists primarily of two parts. The absorbent black side is made of advanced antimicrobial materials using silver (so Kula is also treated against odors). This side is also made of soft bamboo and organic cotton. So it doesn’t chafe at all. Its absorbency is fascinating—it can hold ten times its own weight. The outer side, the one with the pretty picture, is waterproof and will keep your hands dry. In one corner, you’ll find stitching with reflective thread, a small detail you’ll appreciate especially at night. An important feature is the plastic snaps, which allow for two ways to attach it to a backpack or anywhere else: the snaps are best left open to let the cloth dry. When the sun hits the black absorbent side, the product dries really quickly. The closed snaps hide the absorbent side, so you don’t have to worry about wiping something unwanted onto your backpack if you set it down somewhere.

Care

Care is very easy; on a day trip, there’s no need to wash the cloth between uses. For the gentlest option, simply rinse with soap and let it dry while hanging. If you prefer machine washing, don’t forget to snap the snaps closed. However, do not use any bleach or fabric softener. We recommend hand-washing the Kula cloth instead. Follow similar steps on a multi-day trek. Use a few drops of biodegradable soap and let it dry (please wash with soap at a reasonable distance from water sources). The sun’s rays will also help “sterilize” the Kula.
