The Gossamer Gear Murmur 36 backpack is a new release from the American brand Gossamer Gear as part of its new series The Alchemy Collection. The Murmur 36 is the mid-size model in this series and is complemented by the Mirage 40 and  Elixir 20.

ALUULA Graflyte®

At its core is the revolutionary material ALUULA Graflyte®, a monomer (PE) free of surface treatments and adhesives. This makes it exceptionally lightweight, durable, and water-resistant, with no risk of delamination or fraying. The material is also highly resistant to UV radiation.

Made from 100% Aluula fabric, the backpack offers an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio. Aluula is **30% lighter and 30% stronger** than high-end nylon fabrics.

Instead of traditional stitching, the collection uses welding technology that minimizes seams and increases overall strength and moisture protection. The result is backpacks and accessories that are not only extremely lightweight but also fully functional in demanding conditions.

Gossamer Gear Murmur 36

We once had a backpack in our lineup under the name Murmur. At the time, it was a revolutionary and, at the same time, the lightest backpack in the Gossamer Gear lineup. It was made entirely of SilNylon.

Its successor successfully builds on this. The Gossamer Gear Murmur 36 is pure minimalism. A main compartment with a roll-top closure, two side pockets, and a mesh pocket on the body of the backpack. There are no small pockets for odds and ends here. However, you can purchase the Shoulder Strap Pocket made from the same ALUULA Graflyte® material. The back panel features Gossamer Gear’s signature Sitlight foam, which you can also use as a seat. The side compression strap is also very useful.

The Gossamer Gear Murmur 36 is a true ultralight piece for experienced hikers with streamlined gear. Even the brand’s founder, Glen Van Peski, uses it as his main backpack. Need we say more? ;-)

Backpack Size

The Murmur 36 is available in one size, and although this backpack is suitable for a wide range of body types, it is best suited for back lengths 48 to 53 cm.

Start measuring at the C7 vertebra at the base of your neck. The best way to find it is to bend your neck and feel for the first protrusion at the base of your neck. This protrusion is where you will start measuring. You can find the lower point by placing your hands on your hipbones on both sides and touching your thumbs together on your spine—it is located where your thumbs meet.
