The Rab Electron Pro down jacket is the direct successor to the proven Electron model. It has found its niche mainly among those who aren’t so concerned with minimal weight, but who want to stay warm above all else! The jacket is filled with 170 grams of premium goose down with a fill power of 800FP, treated with a water-repellent finish from Nikwax.

Of course, Rab includes the R.D.S. certificate of origin for the down  Starting this year, Rab began using recycled materials in a number of products; the Electron Pro features recycled 20D nylon with a weight of 38 g/m². The outer fabric is the proven 20D Pertex Quantum Pro, which, unlike Pertex Quantum, also has a polyurethane coating, giving it higher water resistance (it is not waterproof!). Of course, a high-quality water-repellent DWR finish is a must. Compared to the previous model, it’s clear that the jacket is now more geared toward the mountains.

The main YKK zipper is a two-way zipper, which climbers will particularly appreciate. The hood has also undergone minor modifications; it is helmet-compatible and the drawcord is now integrated inside. Of course, it features a stiff peak. The sleeve cuffs have also been redesigned and now have two elastic gussets on the inside. A small detail you’ll really appreciate when threading your hand through the sleeve or, say, while cooking...

You can easily warm your hands in two large zippered pockets, which are positioned higher up so they’re easy to reach even while wearing a climbing harness. The smaller inner pocket for small items is also a nice touch. The bottom hem of the jacket can, of course, be easily adjusted. All in all... The Electron Pro is an excellent multipurpose mountain jacket with an ideal balance between weight and warmth.
