Excellent warmth, packability, and relative lightness—considering its thermal comfort—are the key features of the Rab Neutrino Pro jacket, which is why it is valued by climbers around the world. Winter climbing is the natural environment for this jacket. The jacket is filled with 212 grams (size M) of premium goose down with a fill power of 800FP, treated with a Nikwax water-repellent finish.

As is standard with Rab, the jacket comes with an R.D.S. down certificate of origin. The outer material is now made of recycled Pertex® Quantum Pro (20D), which is very lightweight and provides excellent wind protection; thanks to its polyurethane coating, it also offers basic water resistance (the jacket is not waterproof!). The lining is also recycled 20D. The new sleeve construction with “pre-twisted” gussets allows for even greater freedom of arm movement, which is so essential for climbing activities—this is hard to describe, so we definitely recommend trying it out, because as soon as you put this jacket on, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.

Of course, it features a sufficiently large hood designed to fit over a helmet with a moldable brim, a two-way YKK zipper for more comfortable belaying your climbing partner, as well as higher-positioned pockets (also with YKK zippers) so they’re accessible even when wearing a harness, allowing you to warm your hands at any time during the climb. There’s also an inner zippered pocket.

The shoulders and upper sleeves are woven with Rabu are reinforced with ripstop fabric to increase durability not only when wearing a backpack, but also, for example, during a rough climb through a narrow chimney. The sleeve cuffs feature an elastic gusset, which you’ll appreciate especially when pulling the jacket over your gloves. If the mountains are your main goal, you don’t care much about weight, and you want a jacket that will keep you warm even in deep freezing temperatures while not restricting your movement, is highly packable, and therefore doesn’t take up much space in your backpack, the Rab Neutrino Pro is exactly for you.
