Sea To Summit Ether Light XT Inflatable Sleeping Pad
Code: KA-SS-ELMAT-PUMP-RProduct detailed description
The Sea To Summit Ether Light XT sleeping pad is another successful product from this legendary Australian brand.
Comfort
At first glance, the sleeping pad stands out primarily for its thickness, which is an impressive 10 cm. This makes it one of the most comfortable sleeping pads on the market. Even heavier individuals need not worry about it sagging. In the regular size, the mat has a standard length of 183 cm but is wider than most classic mats. It measures a generous 55 cm at the shoulders and then tapers toward the feet. Weighing just 390 grams, it ranks among the lighter mats in our lineup. The base of the entire mat is made of durable 30D/40D nylon with an Air Sprung Cells™ chamber construction, consisting of dozens of interconnected chambers that function like springs. This construction perfectly distributes your weight and adapts to the contours of your body. A major advantage is the material’s internal antibacterial treatment, which prevents mold growth inside the mat caused by inflation.
Simple valve
As with its other mats, the manufacturer uses its patented valve here as well. It works flawlessly. Just flip open the cap and you can start inflating right away. Thanks to the internal membrane, air doesn’t escape during inflation. When you want to deflate the mat, simply flip open the other cap and the air is out in a matter of seconds. The valve is really simple, so there’s nothing to go wrong with it. Another advantage is that it’s flat, so it doesn’t get in the way.
Inflator bag
A great feature is the included inflator bag, which also serves as a storage bag for the mat. Here again, you can see that the manufacturer put a lot of thought into the design. Most Sea To Summit mats have been shipped with this bag since 2019. Simply snap the bag onto the valve, draw in air, and roll the mat to inflate it. It’s done after about 6 repetitions. This method easily prevents moist air from entering when inflating by mouth.
Pillow attachment system
The sleeping pad comes with self-adhesive Velcro patches used to secure the pillow. This easily prevents the pillow from moving, ensuring a comfortable sleep throughout the night. All pillows from Sea To Summit are compatible with this system.
Thermal Resistance
The R-value is 1.2, which makes the Ether Light more of a summer sleeping pad. In practice, it will be usable around temperatures of approximately +5°C; for spring and fall frosts, it certainly won’t be the ideal option, and you’ll need to supplement the mat with at least an aluminum mat. Since 2020, thermal resistance measurements have been standardized according to ASTM F3340-18, allowing for the comparison of heat loss values across different brands. We also offer a three-season, insulated version of the Sea To Summit Ether Light XT Insulated.
We recommend placing Tyvek under every inflatable sleeping pad, as it significantly reduces the risk of punctures.
