The still relatively young Czech brand Patizon has already made a strong name for itself in the world of down products in recent years. We at Nalehko have been following the development of their sleeping bags from the very beginning. We know the guys personally, and once they brought their line of sleeping bags to absolute perfection, we knew that such sleeping bags shouldn’t be missing from our selection.

New Patizon D series

The Patizon Dpro series has received new innovations for the AW24/25 season, and we will now refer to it under the simplified name D series. In our lineup, you’ll find the Patizon D 290 and Patizon D 590. Below are the words of the experts at Patizon. "Forget about Dpro. We like things simple, so we’ve once again slightly improved our popular line of sleeping bags while simplifying its name. Thanks to the combination of Pertex™ Quantum™ and Toray™ Airtastic™ materials, the sleeping bags remain very lightweight, yet offer spaciousness, incredible comfort, and greater durability. High-quality European duck down and a smart design with a straight zipper ensure excellent insulation for demanding hikers and travelers."

Innovation

The main innovation of the "D" series is therefore a change in the outer material. The new material used is Toray™ Airtastic™ (100% pre-consumer recycled nylon) 38 g/m² with a water-repellent DWR finish. This is fabric remnant from Toray’s production process, which is reprocessed into raw polyamide and then used to create the final material. This process increases production efficiency and reuses material that is flawless and would otherwise end up in landfills. This 100% nylon fabric is also eco-friendly—it is made from 100% recycled raw material.    The inner material remains the same: 100% recycled Pertex™ Quantum™ with a weight of 32 g/m², naturally also featuring an eco-friendly water-repellent DWR finish. The sleeping bag is filled with 290 grams (Regular size) of duck down with a fill power of 700+ cuin and a down-to-feather ratio of 90/10. This down is hypoallergenic, cleaned using biodegradation, and certified according to the standards of RDS and  IDFL. The sleeping bag is filled with a 50/50 ratio (top and bottom of the sleeping bag). The central zipper on the Patizon D 290 model is now SHZ.  

Construction and thoughtful details

The Z-shaped chamber construction helps distribute the fill evenly throughout the chambers while preventing cold spots at the seams. Patizon sleeping bags have an anatomical shape, so they conform to the body’s contours to ensure the most effective heat retention. However, the sleeping bags are exceptionally wide in the shoulders, so you can comfortably turn over in them. The foot chambers are designed to maximize insulation. The main, straight, semi-automatic SHZ zipper is, of course, backed by an insulating flap (which, by the way, is generously padded with down) to eliminate the loss of precious heat. On Patizon sleeping bags, the zipper is located on the front of the bag.  Inside the sleeping bag, you’ll find a spacious zippered pocket measuring 20 x 20 cm, which easily holds a phone, headlamp, batteries, or any small items that need to be kept warm.

Semi-automatic zipper

Patizon sleeping bags use top-of-the-line SHZ zippers. They also feature smart semi-automatic sliders with two positions—STOP and GO. In the STOP position (slider facing down), the zipper is locked in place and will not open without being secured by a snap or Velcro. In the GO position (slider up), the zipper can be opened simply by pulling it apart. Fast and efficient. The zipper is, of course, equipped with a comfortable pull tab for reliable and convenient fastening.

Sleeping Bag Dimensions

Sleeping bags come in three lengths. The Short size is suitable for people between 156 and 170 cm. For heights from 171 to 185 cm, we recommend the Regular size, and for taller individuals from 186 to 200 cm, the Long version is recommended.  

Thermal comfort

Patizon specifies three thermal comfort ratings for its sleeping bags (comfort, limit, extreme) measured according to the ISO EN 23537 standard. Specifically, for the Patizon D 290 model, the comfort rating is 3 °C, the limit rating is -2 °C, and the extreme rating is -18 °C. These values make it a full-fledged, three-season sleeping bag for milder conditions. However, these values should of course be taken with a grain of salt, as there are many factors that influence the resulting comfort (physical condition, choice of a suitable location, air humidity, fatigue, etc.). We also offer a "more powerful" series of sleeping bags G400 and G800. We also offer a warmer version, the Patizon D 590. Previous version Patizon Dpro 290
