Sea to Summit Ultralight Mat Inflatable Sleeping Pad
Code: KA-SS-ULMAT-PUMP-S KA-SS-ULMAT-PUMP-R KA-SS-ULMAT-PUMP-L Choose variantProduct detailed description
The Regular-sized sleeping pad features a structure made up of 181 small cells, which means it requires a minimal amount of air to inflate—just 8 to 10 breaths—yet remains comfortable even for side sleepers. Since 2020, it has also come with an inflation bag, which prevents moisture from entering the pad. The bag can also be used as a storage bag for the mat. Simple and smart. The mat features an ingeniously simple and practical “valve” with a flap to prevent air from escaping between breaths, and best of all, opening the second stage of the valve allows you to deflate it almost instantly! This makes it quick and easy to inflate and pack up.
Our Experience
Testing the mat outdoors confirmed the manufacturer’s claim that it is truly comfortable; thanks to the included bag, it inflates very easily and deflates and packs up even more easily. A perfect valve that doesn’t get in the way at all. The structure and surface of the material have changed quite a bit on the new model, and it no longer feels as “rubbery.” The mat is definitely one of the quieter ones. Even the Small size is quite long, measuring a solid 168 cm. For someone like me, who’s used to a 130 cm mat, that’s a real luxury :-) When you sit down or rest on your knees, you naturally feel the ground right away, but when you’re lying down normally, you definitely won’t sink through it.
Seasonal Use
Since its thermal resistance is only R = 1.1, it’s not suitable for camping in cold weather. But for summer adventures, it’s a fantastic, comfortable companion. For occasional trips in conditions where morning frosts are a risk, just add a foam pad or an aluminum mat, and you’ll have a comfortable and lightweight setup even for early spring or fall conditions. Compared to the Klymit Static V2, it is narrower, which is especially noticeable in the foot area. And thanks to its thinner profile, it’s easier to sink all the way down to the ground when you roll over at night. On the other hand, it has a more practical valve and is easier to pack. When packed, it’s about the same size, but it’s 100 g lighter. That can come in handy sometimes :-) Each mat now comes with anti-slip patches that keep your pillow perfectly in place.
If you’re looking for a mat for colder conditions, the Ultralight is also available in an insulated version Ultralight Insulated – the guys at bikepacking.cz The Ultralight Mat is available in ExtraSmall, Small, Regular (Reg.), and, for taller riders, a Large version.
We recommend placing Tyvek under every inflatable mat, as it significantly reduces the risk of punctures.
