For over 40 years, Rab has been crafting top-of-the-line mountaineering gear. In collaboration with athletes and with attention to every detail. The collection has gradually expanded from mountaineering, through ski mountaineering to running. The logical next step is to expand the collection to include cycling. Thanks to his detailed knowledge of materials, construction, and the needs of gravel and MTB cyclists, Rab was able to create an innovative cycling collection, which is based on years of proven materials  (Proflex, Pertex Shield, Matrix), so the Cinder collection won’t let you down on any adventure on two wheels.

Rab Borealis

The Rab Borealis is, without exaggeration, the best-selling and most versatile jacket from Rab. It is simply a lightweight and highly breathable windbreaker. Our team wears it for basically everything. From climbing, ski mountaineering, backcountry, running/cross-country skiing to classic hikes and cycling. And as is often the case with versatile gear, we start to hit its limits during certain activities. With the Borealis, it’s precisely the latter. Cycling simply has its own specific requirements, to which certain features need to be adapted. Especially if you’re serious about biking—or, more specifically, bikepacking—and know how much time you’ll spend in the saddle overall.

And that’s exactly what Rab did. The Rab Cinder Borealis lacks a hood, which isn’t very useful on a bike. Instead, it features a two-layer, soft, and perfectly fitting collar that protects against the wind. Two large "Napoleon pockets" have been replaced by a single classic "jersey" pocket adapted for the right hand. Following the design of cycling jerseys, the front is cropped and the back is extended. The back also features a non-slip finish with the Rab Cinder collection logo, keeping it securely in place while in the saddle. In short, everything is tailored to the cycling position.  Just like its predecessor, this piece is made from "Rab-style" Matrix™ softshell material, tested by years and countless adventures.
