For over 40 years, Rab has been manufacturing top-quality mountaineering gear. In collaboration with athletes and with attention to every detail. The collection has gradually expanded from mountaineering, through ski mountaineering to running. The logical next step is to expand the collection to include cycling. Thanks to his detailed knowledge of materials, construction, and the needs of gravel and MTB cyclists, Rab was able to create an innovative cycling collection, which relies on years of proven materials (Proflex, Pertex Shield, Matrix), so the Cinder collection won’t let you down on any adventure on two wheels.

Rab Cinder Downpour

Cycling Special is based on Rab’s long-standing bestseller, the Downpour jacket. It is on this very piece that the 2.5-layer, highly abrasion-resistant 40D Pertex® Shield fabric, with 20,000 mm / 20,000 g/m² ratings, has been proven by countless generations. Since 2020, Rab has been a certified climate-neutral company, and in line with their commitment to become 100% climate neutral ("Net Zero") by 2030, this product, as is traditional, features a fluorocarbon-free DWR water-repellent finish.  The entire jacket is designed for riding and sitting on a bike. Shortened front and extended back with a non-slip finish + extended sleeves with asymmetrical cuffs. The hood, with a one-handed drawcord around the face, fits perfectly under a helmet, and the reinforced brim reliably replaces a traditional cycling cap and protects the eyes from rain. 

The jacket has two pockets on the arms and two zippered ventilation openings that also serve as access to the jersey pockets. All zippers on the jacket are YKK® AquaGuard. Overall, we were really looking forward to the Cinder collection, but when we first put it on, we had slightly mixed feelings. Its purpose and advantages really shine through only when you sit behind the bike’s handlebars and start pedaling. Nothing gets in the way, nothing pulls, it fits perfectly, and it enhances the riding experience. The Rab Cinder Downpour, just like the entire cycling Rab Cinder collection, serves gravel and MTB enthusiasts, bikepacking adventurers, as well as all occasional and recreational riders for maximum comfort in the saddle.
