The Rab Downpour Mountain Pants are ideal for anyone looking for lightweight and durable waterproof pants for demanding mountain activities. Whether you’re going hiking, rock climbing, or ski mountaineering, these pants will reliably protect you from inclement weather.
Durability and Mobility
The pants are made from 2.5-layer Pertex® Shield fabric, which provides excellent protection against rain and wind. For maximum durability, 40D Pertex® Shield ripstop fabric is used, which can withstand even the most challenging terrain. Another key feature is the excellent knee shaping, which ensures unrestricted movement when tackling rocky trails and steep ascents.
Easy to put on and ventilate
Full-length two-way zippers along the entire length of the legs allow you to easily put the pants on over boots and crampons. They also help regulate airflow, so you can easily adjust ventilation to suit current conditions.
Comfort and fit
The partially elastic waistband with an adjustable drawcord minimizes bulk at the waist and ensures a comfortable fit. The adjustable hem with snap closures allows for use with various types of footwear, so you can easily adapt the pants to your needs.

The older model with half-length zippers, available in both men’s and women’s versions, accompanied us on our 4,500 km journey along the Continental Divide Trail. Even after five months of intensive use, the waterproofing was still excellent, and what we appreciate most is that they are comfortable even on bare legs. We didn’t have long pants with us, so we wore them over shorts in the rain or cold.
