The Rab Firewall waterproof jacket has become a true staple in our lineup. For 2025, this jacket—though heavier, yet more durable—has been updated.

The Rab Firewall Mountain Jacket is still a rugged and technical jacket that will protect you from the elements in the most demanding conditions. Designed for climbers and active outdoor enthusiasts, it is ready to face rain, wind, and snow.

Construction and Material

The jacket is made from highly durable 40D Pertex Shield® three-layer fabric (133 g/m²), which no longer has "stretch" but is smooth and sturdy. The new Firewall is thus even more mechanically durable than before. The proven membrane provides excellent water protection (20,000 mm) while remaining sufficiently breathable (20,000 g/m²/24h) for active movement. The inner layer is soft and very pleasant to the touch. 

Hood and Details

The hood is roomy enough to be worn over a helmet, which is ideal for climbing, but it can also be easily pulled down for use without a helmet. The reinforced brim protects your face from rain without losing its shape, even in strong winds. The two-way YKK® AquaGuard® zipper ensures water resistance and allows for easy ventilation, so you can adjust the airflow as needed. Underarm ventilation zippers provide even better ventilation.

Pockets and Accessibility

The jacket features three practical pockets with water-resistant YKK® AquaGuard® zippers. The two side pockets are large enough to hold your gloves, energy bars, or cell phone, and are positioned so you can access them even while wearing a backpack or climbing harness. The chest pocket is ideal for easy access to small items you want to keep close at hand.

Fit and Comfort

The Firewall Mountain Jacket features an extended cut in the back and anatomically shaped sleeves, ensuring maximum freedom of movement. The sleeves are finished with adjustable Velcro cuffs that prevent wind and water from penetrating. The bottom hem of the jacket can, of course, also be tightened as needed.

Weight and Packability

Even though the jacket offers a high level of protection and durability, it weighs a very respectable 526 grams (size M). Thanks to its weight and compactness, you can easily pack it into your backpack and have it ready for any unpredictable weather changes.
