The Rab Latok Mountain GORE-TEX Pro is a cult classic from Rab. A durable, waterproof jacket combining top-of-the-line GORE-TEX Pro fabric in two weights.

It is currently the best waterproof material you can get from Gore. A water column of 28,000 mm and RET < 6 combined with excellent durability and a surprisingly reasonable weight.  

Rab Latok Mountain GORE-TEX Pro

This jacket has everything you’d expect from a true mountain jacket. A sturdy, fully adjustable hood with a reinforced brim designed to fit over a helmet. The full-length central two-way YKK® VISLON® AquaGuard® zipper can be easily operated while wearing gloves. Excess heat can be vented through large zippered underarm vents, which also serve as access to your base layers. The vents feature two distinct sliders—a classic pull tab and a knot—so you’ll always know which one to pull and in which direction. The jacket has two hand pockets accessible even with a climbing harness and two chest pockets. The outer one is equipped with a safety clip (ideal for a compass) and there is one inner pocket. All zippers on the jacket are, of course, YKK. The jacket has extended cuffs to protect your hands, and the bottom hem is adjustable on both sides. The jacket has a great "articulated" cut. Sure, "everyone has that these days," but it’s hard to describe—you really should come try it on here :-) Oh, and everyone has Recco these days, so that’s included here too.

Materials

GORE-TEX Pro is the absolute top of the line among membrane materials. In the Rab Latok Mountain GORE-TEX Pro (RET < 6!), it is ingeniously used in two different weights and deniers. The durable 80D 3-Layer GORE-TEX Pro (131g/spanm/spansup2/sup) is used on the hood, sleeves, and upper part of the jacket (as seen in the photos). In other words, on the more exposed areas. The rest of the jacket and less exposed areas use the lighter 40D 3-Layer GORE-TEX Pro. This effective combination gives this beauty a weight of just 407 grams (size M).

So we’re talking about a full-fledged mountaineering jacket made from top-tier materials with excellent breathability, weighing under 500g. If you need a true mountaineering jacket with no compromises for the most demanding performances, you’ve just hit the jackpot.
