The Rab Cirrus Flex Hoody from the popular line of synthetic insulated jackets Rab Cirrus has received another innovation for the Fall/Winter 24/25 season. And this isn’t just a mere design update; Rab has once again succeeded in taking functionality and sustainability. Just like its predecessor, we recommend this piece primarily for situations where we wouldn’t fare well with down. High-intensity aerobic activity in cold conditions or spending time in a cold, damp, and rainy environment. Simply put, anywhere we need to stay warm and where there is a risk of the down getting wet and losing its insulating properties.

Primaloft® Silver: Rise

The main change lies in the new Primaloft® Silver: Rise insulation. It stands out for its lightness and unique construction, ensuring high resistance to compression and thus maintaining a high natural loft. This results in an absolutely superb ratio of warmth, weight, and insulation volume. Its thermal insulation properties are comparable to high-quality natural down. The insulation is made from 100% recycled (post-consumer) materials, contributing to sustainability.

Pertex® Quantum + Thermic™ stretch fleece

The outer material remains unchanged. The time-tested and proven Pertex Quantum material with a fluorocarbon-free DWR finish is lightweight yet sufficiently breathable and windproof. The DWR finish protects against mist or light rain. You’ll find this material in virtually all high-quality insulated jackets today. The jacket’s side panels are made of Thermic™ stretch fleece (215 g/m²) and feature no insulation. This combination “breathes” wonderfully and keeps us warm both when moving and when we stop and stop “heating up” the jacket. The jacket’s lining is now made of the same material as the exterior—recycled 20D Pertex Quantum with a fluorocarbon-free DWR finish.

Rab Cirrus Flex Hoody 3.0

The jacket’s construction remains essentially the same. The main change is in the design, where the insulation-filled chambers are now more angled, compared to the previous horizontal chambers. The jacket features a central YKK® VISLON® zipper with an insulated flap and chin guard. The two hand pockets also feature YKK zippers. The bottom hem of the jacket is adjustable on one side. The sleeves are "articulated" and it really makes a difference. This is hard to describe, but as soon as you put the jacket on, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. The sleeve cuffs are semi-elastic for better compatibility with gloves. 

The hood design is definitely worth mentioning; it’s designed to fit under a helmet and is a clever combination of outer Pertex Quantum, PrimaLoft® Silver sheet insulation, and breathable, flexible Thermic elastic panels for maximum comfort, insulation, and freedom of head movement. This entire combination of warmth and wind resistance still weighs an acceptable 433g in size M and packs down into the left pocket into a compact bundle. Suitable for a wide range of outdoor activities, whether as a base layer worn over a T-shirt during intense summer activities, or as a classic mid-layer during winter adventures.
