Rab Ascendor Light Hoody

Rab's new line of technical mid-layers, the Ascendor, features functional materials designed to provide the best balance of thermal insulation and breathability for all kinds of activities, not just mountaineering. The Ascendor Light Hoody is the lightest hooded version in this series. Since 2020, Rab has set a goal to gradually develop sustainability and minimize our footprint as much as possible. However, this isn’t just some superficial “marketing” ploy; Rab takes great care to evaluate recycling methods to ensure that it all makes sense. So, of course, the new mid-layers from Rab also feature recycled materials.

Thermic™

Just like in the entire Ascendor series, the light versions also feature the proven, recycled "Rab" Thermic™ S material, this time in a lighter weight of 165 g/m². Breathability and moisture wicking in this model are achieved through horizontal “wave-like” stripes on the inside of the sweatshirt, which alternate between sections with more and less insulation. The sweatshirt thus insulates through the stripes with more fleece and wicks sweat away through the stripes with less. This material is therefore ideal for aerobic activities in colder conditions—it keeps you warm and, thanks to excellent moisture wicking, keeps you dry even during more physically demanding activities. 

Accessories

The hoodie features a close-fitting hood with an elastic hem designed for use under a helmet. Similarly, the sleeve cuffs and bottom hem of the jacket are fitted with elastic trim. The hem is also "dropped," meaning it slopes downward from the torso toward the seat, thus protecting the lower back. The central zipper is a YKK, as is the zipper on the single chest pocket.

Usage

With its specifications, the Rab Ascendor Light Hoody is the ideal mid-layer for cooler temperatures during high-intensity activities (running, cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, cycling…). In spring and summer temperatures, it also easily serves as an outer layer for any activity in the mountains and outdoors in general. Thanks to its flat, low-profile seams, the hoody can also be worn directly against the skin as a base layer.
