Rab Vital Hoody Men's Windbreaker - The highly popular Rab Vital windbreaker has been updated this year and is now made from "Rab" Atmos™ fabric. Thanks to this, we've once again managed to reduce the overall weight slightly, and of course, it also features a water-repellent DWR finish free of fluorocarbons. You can easily weather a light shower or persistent drizzle in this jacket, but of course it is not waterproof and in the event of heavier rain, you’ll need to put on a standard hardshell jacket. It’s also reasonably breathable, so it can be used for low-intensity activities. Expecting not to sweat in a windbreaker while running is just as unrealistic as running in just a T-shirt and being convinced you’ll finish completely dry. At the same time, the material packs down very well and doesn’t take up too much space in your backpack.

Overall, you can find lighter windbreakers on the market, but lighter models are always a bit stripped down—often lacking a hood, drawcords, pockets, etc. See, for example, the lightweight version of the Vital Windshell Jacket without a hood and featuring only a zippered chest pocket. From a technical standpoint, Rab has put a lot of effort into this. YKK full-length zipper, 2 side hand pockets. The elastic hood is particularly well-designed. It has a fixed brim and a rear adjustment with Velcro. This ensures the hood stays in place even in very strong winds. A wind flap is included under the main YKK zipper.

A very clever feature is the snap-button closure in the chest area, which allows you to adjust ventilation as needed. The sleeves have elastic cuffs and, as is customary with Rab, are sufficiently long. The bottom of the jacket can be easily cinched thanks to a one-sided integrated drawcord. We would recommend this jacket for all mountain activities (climbing, running, hiking, cycling) in the spring and summer months.
