The collection has gradually expanded from mountaineering, through ski mountaineering to running. The logical next step is to expand the collection to include cycling. Thanks to his detailed knowledge of materials, cut construction, and the needs of gravel and MTB cyclists, Rab was able to create an innovative cycling collection, which relies on years of proven materials (Proflex, Pertex Shield, Matrix), so the Cinder collection won’t let you down on any adventure on two wheels.

Rab Cinder Crank Short

Lightweight cycling shorts made from the proven "Rab" Matrix fabric in two weights. You may know this material mainly from Rab’s absolute bestsellers jackets Borealis jackets and Torque pants, which rank among the long-term most popular and best-selling items. These shorts are available in two weights and weaves; in areas exposed to cycling (seat/crotch, back and inner thighs), reinforced Matrix is used in a higher weight of 186 g/m² with greater abrasion resistance. The rest of the shorts feature a more breathable, single-weave fabric with a weight of 151 g/m².

This is now a traditional concept similar to, for example, pants reinforced at the knees and ankles, but adapted for the cycling world. Of course, it features a water-repellent DWR finish, and as is typical for Rab custom, they do not contain fluorocarbons. Thanks to this, there’s no need to stop immediately during a light shower or drizzle, but of course, these aren’t waterproof pants. However, they give us some leeway to ride to a shelter, under a tree, or a bridge, etc., where waterproofs might come in handy.

Cycling Special

The shorts are fully designed for riding and sitting on a bike with an "articulated cut" for maximum comfort on the road. Ventilation and access to the base layer are provided by two zippered openings with YKK zippers. Essentials you want to keep close at hand can be stored in two zippered pockets, thoughtfully placed so you can reach them even while riding. The raised, ergonomically shaped waistband features a non-slip silicone finish in the shape of the Cinder collection logo, which keeps the shorts in place while riding. The waist circumference is adjustable on both sides using Velcro straps, and the central closure features two snaps.
