Detailed information

Product detailed description

The Rab Andes Infinium 1000 sleeping bag is a warmer version of the Andes Infinium 800. Both models feature cutting-edge technologies and an excellent weight-to-warmth ratio, making them the ideal companion for frigid expeditions and conquering the highest peaks. The insulation consists of 1,000 grams of premium goose down with a fill power of 800FP and a fluorocarbon-free water-repellent treatment from Nikwax. This allows it to better withstand moisture, dry faster, and regain its full loft. All down used by Rab naturally meets the R.D.S. For the outer material in the Rab, they used 13D GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ with WINDSTOPPER® technology (45 g/m²) and a DWR finish. This material provides a robust, windproof barrier while remaining sufficiently lightweight and durable. The lining is made of 20D ripstop nylon with TILT technology (35 g/m²), which significantly improves thermal insulation without compromising pack size, breathability, or weight.

TILT (Thermo Ionic Lining Technology)

TILT technology is a small revolution in sleeping bags. In short, individual fabric fibers are coated with an extremely thin layer of titanium, which helps reflect the user’s body heat back toward the body, thereby increasing thermal comfort without compromising the fabric’s breathability or increasing the overall weight of the sleeping bag. Laboratory testing has shown that the use of TILT technology increased efficiency by up to 32% compared to a model with conventional fabric and the same amount of down. Thanks to this, the thermal performance of the Andes series achieves results comparable to those of the Rabácká "Expedition" series, but with a lower weight. The Andes Infinium 1000 sleeping bag is a "mummy" style. The three-dimensional neck collar and face panel, which fit snugly against the face, combined with a 3/4 YKK zipper covered by a dedicated down panel and TILT technology, ensure absolutely minimal heat loss. The sleeping bag features a trapezoidal "boxwall" construction of compartments that eliminate cold spots and maximize the loft and efficiency of the down. It is designed for people up to 195 cm tall and has a total length of 225 cm. Packed dimensions are 45 x 28 cm. All sleeping bags are manufactured and hand-filled in the U.K.

Comfort

Comfort temperature is measured at Rabu according to the EN1357:2016 standard. Of course, we are all different, so the temperatures listed here should be taken more as a guide for choosing the right sleeping bag. The standard is based on the parameters of a standard man—25 years old, 173 cm, 73 kg – and a standard woman – 25 years old, 160 cm, and 60 kg. The temperatures listed represent a range derived from a series of measurements, spanning from the upper temperature limit at which a person can sleep through the night without waking up to the extreme temperature that determines the minimum temperature at which a person can survive. Rab specifies comfort temperature (the ideal temperature you should use as a basis when choosing a sleeping bag), limit temperature  (the temperature at which an average man can remain at rest for 8 hours without waking up), extreme limit (this should be taken as a guide to how the sleeping bag would perform in an emergency situation, not as a recommended use case. It refers to the temperature at which an average woman can remain for 6 hours without risk of death from hypothermia). In addition, Rab specifies the so-called “Rab limit”, which is based on their own experience and that of athletes and is considered a reasonable limit for the usability of the sleeping bag.
