The Lesovik HEX 400 down topquilt is a new addition to this Polish manufacturer’s line of down insulation products. This new line is being developed in collaboration with AURA, a company known for its innovative products in the outdoor market.

Why use a top quilt?

When sleeping in a hammock, using a traditional sleeping bag doesn’t make much sense, because the insulation gets compressed between the hammock fabric and the user’s back, which reduces the insulation’s effectiveness on the back. That is why a simple down topquilt combined with an underquilt is more commonly used. Another advantage is that it is easier to find a comfortable sleeping position, and you don’t have to deal with a zipper, which often gets stuck in a traditional sleeping bag.

Premium materials

The HEX 400 topquilt is filled with 400 grams of premium goose down from Poland with a high fill power of 800 cuin (95/5). The outer fabric is made of 100% recycled 10D ripstop nylon Tsubasa Lotus. Thanks to this, the quilt achieves an excellent total weight of 636 grams.

Thoughtful design and cut

During development, Lesovik sought to combine the advantages of a sleeping bag and a classic blanket while avoiding their disadvantages. The main goal was maximum simplicity—no zippers, unnecessary buckles, etc. And, of course, a cut that offers maximum space for the legs and arms. Around the torso, the quilt is shaped to allow for free arm movement and side sleeping. The "wing"-shaped collar is also well-designed, cleverly enclosing the space around the neck, shoulders, and shoulder blades. For foot comfort, there is a sophisticated, enclosed footbox that is spacious enough to prevent cold spots from forming. Two internal pockets located at hip height—exactly where a relaxed hand reaches—are perfect for storing small items.

Dimensions

The dimensions of the topquilt were also carefully considered. It is available in two sizes: a standard length of 180 cm and a 195 cm length for taller individuals.

Temperature Rating

The HEX 400 is suitable for a temperature range from -6 °C to +10 °C. This range is based on the manufacturer’s personal experience and the opinion of their testing group. Individual perceptions may vary depending on sensitivity to cold, physical and mental state, and weather conditions (wind and humidity increase the sensation of cold). The topquilt should always be used in combination with a sleeping pad suitable for the given conditions (with high thermal resistance R) or underquilt for a hammock.
