The Rab VR Summit women's jacket is the warmest piece in the Rab VR line, yet it is thin enough to be incorporated into a layering system. You can use it as a mid-layer or as your main outer layer. The Rab VR Summit marks a new era of multi-purpose jackets featuring Rab’s proprietary Vapour-Rise™ lining. This lining has been completely redesigned for this season. Its structure is more reminiscent of a cozy “fleece” that keeps you warm while perfectly wicking away sweat. You’ll appreciate this especially during active movement when you’d normally be shedding a layer, but the VR Summit keeps you warm and dry all day long. During development, Rab had the new VR Summit tested quite intensively throughout the year by a number of climbing instructors to achieve perfection.

Materials:

The jacket is protected from the elements by the proven Pertex Quantum Air fabric. It is windproof, highly breathable, highly packable, and features a water-repellent DWR finish that easily handles light rain or snow. The jacket’s cut is more athletic, allowing it to fully realize its potential, especially during active movement in the mountains. However, it is a very versatile piece that you can also use for “everyday wear” in the city from cooler fall through early spring. It will, however, find its greatest use in the mountains, where the VR Summit has a firm place. Whether you’re going on winter hikes, setting out on ski tours, climbing the Tatra granite in winter, or enjoying the snow-covered landscape on cross-country skis, the VR Summit will perform flawlessly everywhere.

Technically, the jacket has everything you need. You can easily warm your hands in the two side pockets, which are easily accessible even with a climbing harness or a hip belt fastened. You can store small items in the chest pocket. Mountaineers will certainly appreciate the two-way YKK main zipper, which is covered by a flap on the inside and, of course, features chin protection. The sleeves are a clever design feature, as the Vapour-Rise™ inner lining is turned inside out to make the jacket easier to put on. The underside of the sleeve cuffs features an elastic gusset, which you’ll appreciate when putting the jacket on. The sleeves are adjusted using Velcro.

The hood is fully insulated and helmet-compatible. Even when worn without a helmet, it’s very easy to adjust. At the back, this is achieved via a Velcro closure, and you can adjust the circumference using the integrated drawcord, which cleverly stays out of the way. The sturdy, moldable peak is also a nice touch. The bottom hem of the jacket can, of course, be easily cinched, and thanks to the clever pull tabs, this is no problem even when wearing gloves.
