The days of classic thick fleeces are definitely over, and in recent years, lighter pieces with textured fleece have been taking center stage. Proof of this is the Ascendor line of mid-layers, which became one of Rab’s absolute bestsellers last season. Available in various styles and combinations, it is based on the recycled "Rab-exclusive" Thermic™ material.

Thermic™

The Rab Ascendor Pro Hoody features an improved Thermic™ Pro Hybrid Fleece. It offers enhanced wind protection compared to the Thermic™ G used in the previous Ascendor. This is the result of new weaving techniques that allow for the creation of woven fleece fabrics that previously had to be knitted. At the same time, the material is more durable yet still wonderfully soft and flexible.& It is combined with the lightweight Matrix™ softshell, which you may recognize from our best-selling jackets Borealis or the Torque pants.

Rab Quantra Pro Hoody

This is essentially the women’s version of the Rab Ascendor Pro Hoody in our lineup. The chest zippered pockets have been moved lower to the abdomen to accommodate the female anatomy. According to our female staff, pockets placed this way make much more sense than chest pockets. However, they are still easily accessible even when wearing a harness or a backpack with a hip belt. The hood features an elastic hem (designed to fit under a helmet), as do the sleeve cuffs. The bottom hem is adjustable on both sides. All zippers are YKK, and the central zipper is full-length.

You can use the Rab Quantra Pro Hoody as a classic mid-layer. However, thanks to its improved windproof material, you can also wear it as an outer jacket. It is best suited for active movement in winter conditions (ski mountaineering, mountaineering, cross-country skiing), but of course nothing prevents its versatile year-round use, whether for running, cycling, rock climbing, via ferrata, or hiking.
