Gossamer Gear The Two is another in a series of absolutely perfect products from this legendary American brand. For nearly 10 years, we have been offering excellent Gossamer Gear backpacks  with which we have completed most of our long-distance treks and are now expanding our selection to include the brand’s excellent shelters and tents. Since its introduction a few years ago, The Two has dominated the vast majority of rankings for the most popular ultralight 2-person tents. This is no different in the current ranking TOP 10 two-person tents, published by the prestigious magazine Section Hiker.

Well-thought-out design and excellent materials

This is a single-wall hybrid design, where part of the inner tent is separated from the vestibule. Essentially, it is a simple pyramid that is pitched using two trekking poles, but it already has a sewn-in inner tent, including a groundsheet. The tent is made of very lightweight yet sturdy siliconized 10D nylon with an internal PU coating. To the longest possible lifespan of the floor, we definitely recommend using  Tyvek or polycro. The Two features entrances on both sides with a full-sized vestibule where both flaps can be opened. Ideally, you should leave one half of the vestibule rolled up, which ensures much better ventilation of the tent and thus reduces internal condensation. The floor is essentially one large, high tub that prevents water from leaking into the tent. Above this tub is a mesh inner layer that ensures maximum ventilation throughout the tent. It’s also worth mentioning that there are mesh vents in the floor near the feet and head—a great detail, since these are the areas where you exhale the most moisture.</ p>

Ready for action

A huge advantage is that the tent comes with all seams factory-taped. You don’t have to worry about a thing. The package also includes 8 high-quality aluminum stakes (you only need 6 pegs for setup) and additional guy lines, which we recommend using on the loops in the tent’s floor. Thanks to these loops, you can easily increase the interior space above your head and feet. The corners of the tent, where the most stress occurs, are sufficiently and carefully reinforced, and of course, there are reflective guy lines with line -locks, making it a breeze to set up the tent.

Plenty of space

With an interior length of 213 cm, the tent is suitable for people up to approximately 190 cm tall. The width of the tent is more than sufficient for two standard sleeping pads. Smaller individuals will have no trouble fitting inside the tent even with a backpack, but we recommend leaving the tent and shoes in the covered vestibules. The height at the top of the tent is approximately 110 cm, so there’s no problem sitting down, changing clothes, etc., inside. You’ll also appreciate the small details, such as the clothesline at the top of the tent, a hook for hanging a light, or the side mesh pockets for storing other small items.

Simple and quick setup

Since the tent is a single large unit, setup is really quick. Simply stake both sides of the tent loosely, and only then insert a trekking pole (extended to about 125 cm), stretch out the vestibules, and stake them down. Do the same on the opposite side. Then simply walk around the entire tent and gently tighten all the corners so that the tent is nicely stretched out. We recommend using the two extra stakes to further tension the tent’s side walls. With the right choice of location and careful staking, The Two is truly stable even in windier conditions. If you don’t want to use trekking poles for setup, we also offer original aluminum poles.
