The Peak Design Shell is a great case that will safely protect your camera from rain, snow, or dust. It works perfectly in combination with the shoulder strap mount Peak Design Capture.

This case solves the age-old problem of where to put your DSLR or mirrorless camera when it starts to rain. Most people just stash their camera in a backpack and stop shooting, but Peak Design thought of every detail when developing the Shell.

The waterproof material is elastic and features taped seams. The case has excellent drawstrings at both ends—near the lens and the display. There is an opening at the bottom for attaching a tripod plate, so you can use the camera with the case on both a tripod and the Capture mount. They also included openings for great anchor links  Anchor Link, which you can use to attach a strap Leash,  Cuff or  Slide Lite.

The Peak Design Shell comes in multiple sizes, so it fits all cameras with any lens combination. Check the size chart for specific size recommendations.

My personal experience

I’ve been using Peak Design products for years. My favorite is the  Capture mount, which is a must-have for anyone serious about photography on the go. Paired with the Shell case, it’s a great combination that protects my camera even from rain or snow. That way, if it starts to rain, I don’t have to stash my camera in my backpack—I can keep it close at hand and keep shooting. I also use the excellent strap Leash almost all the time, and recently I’ve also fallen in love with  Cuff. I always wear it on my wrist like a bracelet, and whenever I take my camera out of my bag, I quickly clip it onto the Cuff and know for sure that nothing will happen to my camera. What I like most about Peak Design is that all their product lines are perfectly interconnected and well-thought-out. Every piece makes sense, and together they form a highly functional ecosystem that makes life significantly easier for someone who holds a camera in their hands every day.

I’ve also fallen in love with Peak Design’s anchor system. I can attach these not only to my camera but also to a bag or tripod, and simply snap everything onto the great strap Leash or Slide Lite.

I usually take the Capture mount and Shell case with me on every trip when I’m carrying my full photography gear (Fujifilm X-T5  + 2-3 lenses). I carry it on the shoulder strap of backpacks from Gossamer Gear  or on my Rebelt.
