Rab Firewall Jacket for men – we’ve answered the call for a durable, technical climbing jacket and added the slightly heavier Firewall to our lineup.
Why? Because it features completely unique underarm ventilation zippers that are so long you can pull your arms all the way out of the sleeves. At Rab, they call it the "Escape Artist"—just like Houdini—you can get out of the jacket even while still wearing it :-). When you unzip the main zipper from the bottom, it’s as if you’ve actually taken the jacket off, yet you still have your backpack on your back and don’t have to stop at all.

The jacket is heavier, but it has everything you could possibly need—durable Pertex Shield 3L, YKK zippers, high-set pockets so you can reach them even with a hip belt fastened, long sleeves and back, clever underarm ventilation, and the option to unzip the jacket from the bottom for excellent ventilation. The hood is designed to fit over a helmet, but it’s highly adjustable and can be worn comfortably even without a helmet. The fabric is slightly stretchy and, given its weight and durability, pleasantly soft. But take note: despite its sturdy construction, this jacket still weighs just under half a kilo!
In international reviews, the jacket is rated very highly, mainly thanks to its ventilation system, perfect protection from the elements, and comfort during a wide range of mountain and climbing activities. Thanks to this, it earned the "BEST BUY" award from the prestigious British magazine The Great Outdoors.
