The Rab Borealis Jacket is undoubtedly our best-selling jacket and the Nalehko team’s favorite from Rab. A true all-rounder that, without exaggeration, you can use for everything. Sure, it’s a pretty overused phrase in the outdoor world, but here it’s just a fact. We wear this piece for running, climbing, cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, backcountry, cycling, trekking, proms, and family celebrations. And it always performs flawlessly.

So it was only a matter of time before we added a vest version to our lineup. It’s a lightweight, windproof softshell vest with excellent breathability and durability. With the right mid-layer, you’ll have a great companion all year round.

Matrix™

This is the popular Rabácký softshell, proven in countless products in various weights. In our lineup, you’ll find it in our best-selling pants, such as the Torque or Ascendor, as well as in countless other Rab models. In the Borealis Hooded, it comes in a specific weight of 130 g/m², neither too little nor too much—just right. It is a lightweight yet sufficiently durable, elastic softshell with excellent wind resistance and breathability. It wicks away moisture brilliantly and dries incredibly fast. A DWR finish is now standard; in our case, fluorocarbon-free. The vest can withstand light rain or prolonged drizzle, but of course it is not waterproof. However, as we mentioned above, even if it does get wet, you’ll be dry again in no time after the rain. 

Rab Borealis Vest

We really like this vest for its minimalist design, yet it has everything you need. It features a zippered chest pocket for small items, a central YKK® VISLON® zipper with a chin guard, and a simple two-way drawcord at the hem. Elastic armholes ensure free arm movement, and we also really like the perfectly fitting collar.

Just like the jacket of the same name, the Rab Borealis Vest is an absolute all-rounder for year-round outdoor use.
