Mother of Comfort!Big Agnes
The Big Agnes brand was founded by Bill Gamber in 2001 in the picturesque town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It is named after a peak in the Mount Zirkel Wilderness called Big Agnes. In the early days, the brand focused on two things: sleeping bags and sleeping pads. One of their groundbreaking ideas was to create a “sleep system”—a sleeping bag with a sleeve into which a sleeping pad slides, so that it becomes firmly attached to the sleeping bag. This marked the beginning of a new era of comfortable camping.
It wasn't long before the company expanded its product line to include tents, backpacks, camping chairs, and other outdoor gear. Big Agnes has made a name for itself primarily through its focus on lightweight gear that combines low weight with comfort. Today, Big Agnes tents are an integral part of all long-distance trails in the U.S., which is why we’ve added them to our lineup as well. In addition, Big Agnes remains a leader in the industry and in innovation regarding the use of eco-friendly materials—recycled fabrics, solution-dyed textiles, the use of renewable energy in its operations, and more.
