The Rab Phantom 2.0 women's jacket is the successor to the Rab Phantom Pull-On. That jacket earned an excellent reputation, especially among runners of all kinds, but we received the most feedback from trail and ultra enthusiasts. The is perfect for longer runs or as mandatory gear for ultra races in the mountains.
However, it has also proven very useful for regular hiking on shorter trips, when you don’t want to lug around your heavy waterproof jacket and need peace of mind in your pocket in case of a downpour. When used with a very lightweight! backpack, the jacket can even be used on multi-day treks
7D Pertex Shield 2.5L
The jacket is made of 7D Pertex Shield 2.5L, which is currently the lightest material used in the outdoor market (51 g/m²). Thanks to its stretchiness, it does not restrict movement during active use, and it also packs down to a minimal size. However, the low weight of the material clearly indicates that the jacket will not be suitable for truly long treks and multi-day backpacking.
The Pertex fabric used offers full protection against inclement weather and features a water column rating of 20,000 mm and a vapor permeability of 20,000 g/m²/24 h.
Rab Phantom 2.0
Since the jacket is designed for the lowest possible weight, it naturally lacks pockets. Compared to its predecessor, however, the focus has shifted more toward comfort at the cost of a minimal increase in weight, and the Phantom 2.0 features a full-length zipper. The hood fits very well and now features a ventilation system at the back. This also serves as an integrated pocket for packing the jacket. The resulting package is about the size of a child’s fist and can be clipped anywhere using the loop. The elastic hood hem and handy visor remain unchanged. So does the rest of the jacket, for that matter. The sleeve cuffs are nicely extended and elastic. The lower sides of the jacket are also elastic and fit snugly against the body, but do not restrict movement. At Rabu, they naturally didn’t forget about passive safety, and the jacket once again features reflective elements.
The previous version was put to the test most thoroughly by our ambassador Romča Vavříková during her trip along the Czech border. Even though Romča faced very harsh conditions, this wasn’t a major problem for the Phantom. The jacket even withstood 5 days of continuous rain. When launching the product, we were most concerned about mechanical durability, but the Phantom surprised us greatly in this regard as well, and the jacket easily handled the 56-day journey!
The jacket will be most appreciated by enthusiastic runners and ultralight hikers. For ultrabikers, we also offer the cycling-specific Rab Cinder Phantom.
