The Nalehko Etalon waterproof jacket is designed to set the standard for what a lightweight, durable, and perfectly crafted waterproof jacket should look like. In designing it, we drew on all our years of experience with gear for long treks. First and foremost, we wanted to create a jacket you can rely on even on the longest treks in the world. At the same time, it is sufficiently lightweight, highly packable, durable, and breathable. When selecting the right material, we opted for the premium 3-layer Pertex Shield, with which we have many years of experience and in which we have complete confidence.

The fabric weight, which combines 15D and 40D fibers (75 g/m²), offers the perfect blend of lightness and durability. Plus, it’s slightly stretchy, soft, and packs down very well. We could have reduced the jacket’s weight to an extremely low figure, but that would have required many compromises that would have reduced its overall durability and comfort. We wanted a jacket that will serve you for many years!

Sophisticated details and cut

In terms of cut and technical construction, we made sure the jacket has everything essential for a waterproof jacket in the mountains. Of course, it features a main, two-way, water-resistant YKK zipper, which is also backed by a storm flap for added security. The ability to unzip from the bottom will be especially appreciated by climbers. There is also a zippered storm flap under the chin and microfleece on the inside for maximum comfort. Two spacious pockets are a must, positioned so they can be accessed even when wearing a hip belt. These pockets also feature waterproof YKK zippers. The sleeves have a sufficiently long and pre-shaped cut with the option to adjust them using Velcro straps.

We’ve extended the back of the jacket to prevent your back from being exposed. The bottom hem features integrated elastic on the sides for easy adjustment. We paid special attention to the hood. We wanted to maintain a minimalist design while ensuring it’s highly adjustable. The circumference can be easily adjusted using the integrated elastic band at the back of the hood. We also included a visor, which you’ll especially appreciate in heavy rain. The side edges of the hood are also elastic for a perfect fit around your head. On the outside, under the hood, you’ll also appreciate the simple loop for hanging the jacket.

Lightweight and dry!

We wanted the jacket to withstand inclement weather while remaining lightweight and easy to pack. That’s why we used a three-layer membrane. It achieves a water column of 20,000 mm, offering excellent protection against rain.

Hand in hand with waterproofing goes the breathability of the material – 20,000+ g/m²/24 h is the value stated by Pertex. However, we have subjected the jacket to extensive long-term testing, particularly during more demanding physical activities such as running, and it feels significantly more breathable to us. We therefore had the material tested at the Technical University of Liberec and measured a significantly better RET value!

The entire Nalehko Etalon waterproof jacket is designed entirely by Nalehko and manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Starting in 2022, we have also added the ultralight waterproof Nalehko Etalon Pants to our lineup.

Care

Don’t be afraid to wash your membrane clothing, just don’t overdo it—less is sometimes more (i.e., less frequent washing and less detergent).

For washing our Etalon, we recommend, for example, Nikwax Tech Wash.

Generally, do not wring out membrane clothing or try to remove water by twisting it! This method can irreversibly damage any garment with a membrane. Simply let the water drip off the hanging jacket and let it air dry at room temperature.

Do not dry in direct sunlight, and do not leave wet clothing folded or "tossed" in a backpack for an unnecessarily long time.
