Rab Vital Hoody 2022 Women's Windbreaker - The highly popular Rab Vital windbreaker has been updated this year and is now made from "Rab" Atmos™ fabric. Thanks to this, the overall weight has been reduced slightly, and of course, it still features a water-repellent DWR finish free of fluorocarbons.

You’ll easily weather a light shower or persistent drizzle in this jacket, but of course it’s not waterproof, so in case of heavier rain, you’ll want to put on a standard hardshell. It’s also reasonably breathable, so it can be used for moderate-intensity activities. Expecting not to sweat in a windbreaker while running is just as unrealistic as running in just a T-shirt and thinking you’ll finish completely dry. At the same time, the material packs down very well, so the jacket doesn’t take up much space in your backpack.

Overall, you can find lighter windbreakers on the market, but lighter models are always somewhat stripped down—often lacking a hood, drawstrings, pockets, etc. See, for example, the lightweight version Windveil Jacket without a hood and with only one pocket. Technically, Rab has put a lot of effort into this jacket. It features a full-length YKK zipper and two side hand pockets. The elastic hood is particularly well-designed. It has a fixed brim and a rear adjustment with Velcro. This ensures the hood stays in place even in very strong winds. There’s also a wind flap under the main YKK zipper.

A very clever feature is the snap-button closure in the chest area, which allows you to adjust ventilation as needed. The sleeves have elastic cuffs and, as is customary with Rab, are sufficiently long. The bottom of the jacket can be easily cinched thanks to a one-sided integrated drawcord. We would recommend this jacket for all mountain activities (climbing, running, trekking, cycling) during the spring and summer months. Versatile, practical, packable, and usable as a base layer or as a lightweight backup packed in your backpack, waiting for its chance.
