Rab Borealis is undoubtedly our best-selling jacket and the Nalehko team’s favorite from Rab. A true all-rounder that, without exaggeration, you can use for everything. Sure, it’s a pretty overused phrase in the outdoor world, but here it’s just a fact. We wear this piece for running, climbing, cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, backcountry, cycling, hiking, proms, and family celebrations. And it always performs flawlessly.

This is a lightweight, windproof softshell jacket with excellent breathability and durability. With the right mid-layer, you’ll have a great companion all year round.

Rab Borealis Hoody 

Compared to the men’s model, the women’s version of the Borealis Hooded remains largely unchanged. Two zippered hand pockets and a full-length central YKK zipper. Just like its predecessor, the hood is designed to fit under a helmet, but personally, we had no trouble wearing it over the helmet when needed. Just like the entire jacket, it’s wonderfully flexible with flat seams. 

The bottom hem adjustment remains unchanged, and we’re glad about that. Simple and functional two-way adjustment. You don’t have to be a pro to operate it with one hand while wearing gloves.

Matrix™

This is Rabák’s popular softshell, proven in countless products across various weights. In our lineup, you’ll find it in our best-selling pants, such as Torque or Ascendor, as well as in countless other Rab models. Specifically, the Borealis Hooded features a fabric weight of 130 g/m², neither too light nor too heavy—just right. It is a lightweight yet sufficiently durable, elastic softshell with excellent wind resistance and breathability. It wicks away moisture exceptionally well and dries incredibly fast. Today, a DWR finish is a given; in our case fluorocarbon-free. The jacket can withstand light rain or prolonged drizzle, but of course it is not a waterproof jacket. However, as we mentioned above, even if it gets wet, you’ll be dry again in no time after the rain. The Matrix fabric is now recycled.

The Rab Borealis Hooded is simply an iconic all-rounder in a new design. Add to that a great price tag, and it’s clear we just can’t leave it out :)
