For over 40 years Rab has been producing top-quality mountaineering gear. In collaboration with athletes and with attention to every detail. The collection has gradually expanded from mountaineering, through ski mountaineering to running. The logical next step is to expand the collection to include cycling. Thanks to his detailed knowledge of materials, construction, and the needs of gravel and MTB cyclists, Rab was able to create an innovative cycling collection, which is based on years of proven materials  (Proflex, Pertex, Matrix), so the Cinder collection won’t let you down on any adventure on two wheels.

Rab Cinder Downpour Light

Cycling Special is based on Rab’s long-standing best-selling jacket Downpour (or Downpour Light), or its cycling variants Rab Cinder Downpour. The Light version is designed for maximum performance and stripped down to the lowest possible weight. In the Rab, they omitted underarm ventilation and chose their own ultra-lightweight material  2.5-layer 20D Proflex™ 20,000 mm/20,000 g/m²/24 (72 g/m²). Only one rear zippered pocket in the style of cycling jerseys remains, and they managed to retain the simple adjustment of the hood and bottom hem. The entire jacket is designed for riding and sitting on a bike. A shortened front and extended back with a non-slip finish + extended sleeves and their asymmetrical cuffs with semi-elastic trim. The hood features one-handed adjustment of the face-wrapping hem, fits perfectly under a helmet , and the reinforced visor reliably replaces a traditional cycling cap and protects the eyes from rain. 

Both zippers on the jacket are YKK® AquaGuard.

Overall, we were really looking forward to the Cinder collection, but when we first put it on, we had slightly mixed feelings. Its purpose and advantages really stand out only when you sit behind the bike’s cockpit and start pedaling. Nothing gets in the way, nothing pulls, it fits perfectly, and it enhances the riding experience. The Rab Cinder Downpour is great, just like the entire cycling Rab Cinder collection, will serve gravel and MTB enthusiasts, bikepacking adventurers, as well as all occasional and recreational riders for maximum comfort in the saddle.
