For over 40 years, Rab has been crafting top-of-the-line mountaineering gear. In collaboration with athletes and with attention to every detail. The collection has gradually expanded from mountaineering, through ski mountaineering to running. The logical next step is to expand the collection to include cycling. Thanks to his detailed knowledge of materials, construction, and the needs of gravel and MTB cyclists, Rab was able to create an innovative cycling collection, which is based on years of proven materials  (Proflex, Pertex Shield, Matrix), so the Cinder collection won’t let you down on any adventure on two wheels.

Rab Cinder Ridgeline

It’s a top-of-the-line mid-layer for spring and fall changeable weather, when you need a layer that adapts to your activity level and breathes and insulates as needed. It can be worn as a mid-layer or, thanks to a clever combination of materials, even directly against the skin as a base layer. This piece simply provides warmth and wind protection in exposed areas while effectively wicking away excess moisture from sweatiest spots.

The main material, Pertex® Quantum Air, is lightweight, breathable, and sufficiently windproof. It is lined with Motiv™ fabric, which is extremely absorbent and is responsible for the jacket’s excellent breathability. This sandwich construction is used on the Rab Cinder Ridgeline across the torso, hips (where the pockets are), shoulders, and upper sleeves. The secondary material, mesh Thermic™ G, is used on the back, sides, and lower sleeves. The mesh structure maintains a layer of air circulating between the skin and the fabric, contributing to overall thermal comfort. Like the entire Cinder collection, the entire cut is designed for cycling posture and riding a bike.

The cropped front and extended back with a non-slip finish stay in place just as they should. The back features three pockets: a zippered hip pocket and two open side pockets. Ample storage capacity even for longer rides, easily lasting all day. Following the design of classic cycling jerseys, they’re easily accessible even from the saddle. Ventilation is provided by a long central YKK zipper, which is protected along its entire length. All seams on the jacket are flat, making it comfortable even when worn directly against the skin.

The Rab Cinder Ridgeline serves as an excellent all-purpose jacket for uncertain and changeable weather forecasts. It’s highly breathable, windproof, and keeps you warm in all the right places. I can easily imagine wearing it on spring and fall bikepacking trips, when there’s a big difference between morning and afternoon temperatures. For the height of summer, however, I would definitely opt for the Rab Cindercrino  It’s basically a thermal cycling jersey that’s sure to delight any enthusiastic biker.
