Evernew Non-Stick Titanium Pot 1.3 L (ECA423)
Code: VA-EV-ECA423Product detailed description
Tradition
Company Evernew Inc. has been manufacturing its titanium cookware for 15 years. Titanium is a top-tier material with irreplaceable properties for outdoor gear. The titanium alloys used are lightweight (with a specific gravity nearly half that of steel), stronger than stainless steel, and highly chemically stable and corrosion-resistant.
Non-stick surface
In addition to the unrivaled in terms of weight Ti-Ultralight series for true fans of ultralight gear, Evernew offers the Non-Stick cookware series with a silicone-based ceramic non-stick coating for greater comfort while cooking. It contains no harmful substances like Teflon coatings, remains stable even at much higher temperatures, and—most importantly—won’t scratch during normal use! You can safely use an anodized duralumin spoon while cooking and eating, and thanks to the non-stick surface, you can easily wash the cookware after a meal or simply wipe it dry with a napkin (in the case of camping without water). It saves time and water; you don’t need a sponge or any chemicals.
Our Experience
I’ve been using the Evernew Non-Stick 1.3 pot for 10 years now. It has been used for over 700 cookings, it isn’t warped in any way—the lid fits smoothly on its own, the bottom is flat, and it’s still non-stick even though I’ve burned some oatmeal in it a few times and then scraped it off hard with an anodized duralumin spoon! In any case, no coating is indestructible, so the better you treat it, the longer it will last and retain its functionality. On our Pacific Crest Trail (4,200 km) in 2012, we declared the Evernew Non-Stick 1.3 pot, along with the Quantum 350 sleeping bag, the best pieces of our gear. The same pot accompanied us on the JMT, the GR20, and last year the 4,500 km Continental Divide Trail.
Gas Use
A potential drawback for some is that, due to titanium’s poor thermal conductivity, it’s not advisable to cook on gas stoves with a narrow flame spread when using full power—this can cause the pot’s bottom to warp. I cook on a alcohol stove and occasionally on an Optimus gas stove (I’ve also cooked over a campfire a few times), and the bottom is still perfectly flat. It’s simply a matter of approach.
For a perfect and efficient cooking system, this mess tin can be supplemented with our titanium windscreen Vesuv, which is designed precisely to fit the shape of the pot so that it serves as both a stand and a perfect windscreen with maximum efficiency. Important note!
- Do not overheat the product, otherwise the food will burn through the thin metal wall. Titanium cookware is designed so that cooking is efficient at low heat intensities.
- Never heat an empty pot! This would cause discoloration, deterioration, and peeling of the functional non-stick coating. Avoid heating dry foods or melting snow without adding water—this causes the same damage as heating an empty pan.
- When frying, first add fat and food to the pot, and only then place the pot on the heat source.
